The inspiration for "Serpent Crown"
was a lecture on the global,
nuclear threat by Owen Brian Toon.
The topic makes clear that many of
our creations and developments are
accompanied by the shadow of our
own destruction, because the extent
of the consequences often remains
unconsidered. As the so-called "crown
of creation" we ignore our dark
side and cannot admit to ourselves
that we still make many decisions
with our reptilian brain. These
absurd behavior patterns are our
curse, because they hold the
potential of our own demise.

I see sheep on the path towards the fire.
I see fools joining the world funeral procession.
I see...

shrieking sirens will sound loud through the night
before death arrives.
a bright thunderbolt, a nuclear shine, halo of mankind.

the crown of creation will crumble
when heralds of damnation arise.

our sphere is poisoned and so are we.
no crowned saviour will redeem us.
I gaze at mankind´s portrayal.
the fangs of greed, the serpent crown.

we´ll bring the inferno that melts the skin.
this is our curse, history in reverse.
consecrated under the sign of our decline.

in patterns of absurdity
we crawl onwards to doom, like snakes.
we´re descendants of reptiles and so we hail,
with splitted tongue, the serpent crown.

we crowned ourselves with arrogance
in the epoch of our fading.
this death instinct drives us all.
the evocation of the fall.

corrosive rain will fall on our thrones,
will bless our flesh unto the bone.
dark endeavors lead us the path with venom and death.

our sphere is poisoned and so are we.
omen of nemesis, we hail thine and spread the darkness.
